Rare 19th-century toilet paper holder. This holder was designed for loose sheets of paper and dates back to a time before the invention of the toilet paper roll as we know it today. The casing for the loose sheets is made of nickel-plated brass, and the top of the holder had a place to rest a cigarette or cigar. It is a curious item that could still be used today for tissues or moist toilet paper.
