**Polychrome Nineteenth Century Washbasin**
Rare small antique washbasin from the late nineteenth century. This washbasin features ornate and stylized soap dishes and has an exceptional size. It is a mid-sized washbasin that we rarely come across. Combined with the unique multicolored decor of exotic orchids, this is a special piece.
The underside of the basin has been restored with staples to fix a hairline crack in the porcelain, which is only visible on the bottom. This damage is not visible inside the basin itself. The repair likely occurred early on, given the technique used. In the late nineteenth century, it was common to repair cracked porcelain or other ceramics with staples. The restoration is invisible when the washbasin is mounted on the wall.
Due to its small size, this washbasin is very suitable for a smaller space or a larger toilet. The washbasin has one tap hole with the original tap still in place. This can be replaced with a small mixer tap or combined with a wall-mounted tap, where the hole on the washbasin can be covered with a ring tray or a cover plate.
The original colors of this washbasin are as vibrant as when it was new, and the glaze shows no signs of wear.
